Hong Kong Style Steamed Soon Hock

Ingredients:

  • 1 Soon Hock fish (cleaned and gutted)
  • Ginger slices
  • Scallions (green onions)
  • Light soy sauce
  • Dark soy sauce
  • Shaoxing wine (optional)
  • Oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the fish: Rinse the Soon Hock thoroughly and pat dry. Make a few slits on the fish to allow flavors to penetrate.
  2. Season the fish: Stuff the fish cavity with ginger slices and a few scallions. Drizzle with light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and Shaoxing wine (optional).
  3. Steaming: Place the seasoned Soon Hock on a steaming rack. Steam for 8-10 minutes or until the fish is cooked through and flaky.
  4. Serving: Garnish with chopped scallions and drizzle with hot oil for added flavor. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, add a few drops of sesame oil before serving.
  • Accompany the steamed Soon Hock with steamed rice or stir-fried vegetables.
